Deal origination for sell-side M&A advisors

Owners of $2M to $50M companies, in your geography and industries, who replied that they are open to a conversation about a transition. You get the thread and a fit note; you run the meeting.

Why advisors buy batches

Referrals are lumpy. A good quarter is followed by a quiet one, and the quiet one is when the pipeline should have been built. A batch of ten is a known quantity: prepaid, defined in writing, refunded where it falls short, and repeatable whenever the pipeline needs it. No retainer sits on the books in a quiet month.

The line owners answer

The emails that produce the most interested replies do not pitch a sale. They open by saying what the advisor is not: not a buyer, not a broker with a listing. They talk about a transition in the owner's own words, and they ask one plain question. Owners of $2M to $50M companies answer that; they do not answer "we have buyers for your business".

What you get in your inbox

The owner's reply, the thread that produced it, and one line on why the company fits: who owns it, what it does, roughly how big it is, what they said. Misses are declined on your behalf. "Not now" replies are logged with a date and are yours to follow up.

If you are a FINRA or state-registered firm

No valuation claims, no promises of outcome, no numbers in the copy. Every email is approved by your compliance reviewer before it sends, and nothing changes after approval without you seeing it. We have run outreach for registered firms under exactly this rule.

What owners wrote back to sell-side outreach

My brother and I are partners, and are both ready for retirement. An after hours telephone conversation would be of interest.

I don't have an offer in front of me but would be interested in talking with you if you would like. I did talk to you a few months ago about listing my business but I figured I need a couple of more years to raise my EBITDA.

Your email caught my attention. I'm traveling at the moment but would be interested in a quick call after the 15th to discuss. Let me know a few dates and times and I'll make it happen.
